What if I already have a Netflix, Disney+ or Amazon Prime account?

  • If you already have a Netflix or Amazon Prime account, you will be able to link your existing account so you don’t lose your watch history or account details. Once you link your existing account, your billing will transfer over to TELUS.

  • If you already have an existing Disney+ account, you will be able to link your existing account so you don’t lose your watch history or account details. After you activate, you may have to manage your existing subscription to avoid being double-billed. If you already have a Disney+ direct-billed subscription for the same or a lower subscription tier, it will be automatically paused until your subscription via TELUS ends or changes to a lower subscription tier. If your Disney+ direct-billed subscription is for a higher subscription tier, or you have an existing Disney+ subscription that is invoiced by a 3rd party, you will have to manage your subscriptions to avoid having multiple subscriptions.

 

Understanding TELUS Easy Payment® & Bring-It-Back™

Get the latest device with a lower monthly cost. The TELUS Easy Payment® program spreads your device cost over 24 months, while Bring-It-Back™ lowers those payments even further by deferring a portion of the cost.

How it Works

  1. Pay Tax Upfront: Taxes are calculated on the full retail price and paid at checkout.

  2. Monthly Device Payments: The Bring-It-Back™ amount is deducted from your financing balance, reducing your monthly bill.

  3. Think of Bring-it-Back as pay later (or return the device after two years)

  4. The 24-Month Term: At the end of 24 months, you can either:

    • Return the device in good working condition and upgrade to a new one.

    • Keep the device and pay back the deferred Bring-It-Back™ amount.

Explanation of Terms

  • Retail Price: The total market value of the device.

  • Bring-It-Back™ Amount: A predetermined amount (e.g., $360) that is subtracted from your financing balance to lower your monthly payments. You don't pay this amount during the 24 months.

  • Taxes (Due Upfront): Calculated on the discounted Price ($770 in the example above). Government regulations require tax on the total value at the time of purchase, regardless of Bring-It-Back™ discounts.

  • TELUS Easy Payment® Balance: The Retail Price minus any upfront down payment and the Bring-It-Back™ amount. This is the "financed" portion.

  • Due Monthly: Your 24 equal monthly installments. These are not taxed because the tax was paid upfront.

  • End of Term Options:

    • Return: Give the phone back to TELUS and your $360 Bring-It-Back™ obligation is cleared.

    • Keep: Pay the $360 Bring-It-Back™ amount on your 25th bill to own the device permanently.


Quick Summary: What do I pay today?

Even if you choose $0 upfront, you will still pay the sales tax on the discounted value of the device at checkout. This ensures your monthly device payments remain low and tax-free for the duration of your 24-month term.

TELUS Bring-It-Back™: Short & Sweet

Think of Bring-It-Back like a pay later for your phone. It’s the lowest way to get a new device by deferring a portion of the cost until the end of your 2-year plan.

1. How it works

  • Lower Monthly Payments: We take a "deferred amount" (e.g., $200) off the total price of the phone, so you pay less every month for 24 months.

  • 0% Interest: It’s a 0% APR financing program with no hidden fees.

2. Your choice after 2 years

At the end of your 24-month term, you have two simple options:

  • Upgrade: Bring the phone back in good working condition, and you owe nothing more. Pick a brand-new phone and start again!

  • Keep it: If you love your phone and want to keep it, just pay back that original deferred amount (the $200 from our example) and it’s yours to stay.

3. The "Fine Print" (Made Simple)

  • Tax: You still pay the sales tax on the full retail price of the phone upfront at checkout.

  • Condition: If you choose to return it, the phone must power on and be free of cracks or major damage. (We recommend adding TELUS Device Care just in case!)

The Bottom Line: You get the newest phone for the lowest possible monthly price today, and you decide whether to keep it or trade it in later.

What happens if I no longer want to be part of the Bring-It-Back program?

You can leave the program at any point during your contract by paying back the Bring-It-Back program amount. Any point after the first 6 months, you can also leave the program by bringing back your phone. Keep in mind that by paying back the Bring-It-Back program amount or bringing back your phone, you may still have a device subsidy balance remaining on your account. Clearing one does not clear the other.

What happens if I want to upgrade early?

In order to complete an upgrade you will need to first clear the Bring-It-Back program amount from your account. This can be done anytime by paying back the Bring-It-Back program amount or returning the device. Keep in mind that you may still have a device balance to pay off.

If I buy online, do I have to return my phone in the store?

Yes, you must bring the phone back to a physical TELUS location at the end of your contract so we can inspect your device condition and complete the return.

Can I join the Bring-It-Back Program with my current contract?

No, Bring-It-Back must be selected at the time of your contract start date. You cannot join partway through an already existing contract. If you would like to sign up for Bring-It-Back you will have to end your current contract and renew with Bring-It-Back.

Why aren’t all phones part of the program?

We consider many things when deciding which devices to include in the Bring-It-Back program. Based on market conditions, we are constantly evaluating what devices to include in the program

How do the taxes work?

Taxes are charged upfront at the point of sale on the amount prior to the Bring-It-Back program amount being removed. When you return your device or pay back the Bring-It-Back program amount you will not be charged any additional tax.

What condition does my phone need to be in when I bring it back?

In order for a device to be considered eligible for return it must meet the following 6 criteria. If it does not meet the criteria you will need to pay the Bring-It-Back Program Amount.

  • Device must power on and navigate properly to the home screen
  • The activation lock must be turned off
  • The LCD must function correctly and be free of dead spots or bruising
  • The screen must be undamaged and free of cracks
  • The rest of the device must be undamaged with no cracks, missing parts, or signs of water damage (hinges, keypad, housing, buttons, battery, etc)
  • All information must be wiped

What happens at the end of my contract?

At the end of your 2 year contract, you will need to decide if you want to either 1) return your device to a TELUS location, or; 2) keep the phone and pay the Bring-It-Back Program Amount that was provided to you at the start of your contract. Joining My TELUS is the easiest way for you to manage and stay up to date on important information regarding your account. You can use My TELUS to review Bring-It-Back information including notification banners that remind you to return your device.

What happens if I damage my phone?

If your phone is damaged and no longer meets the Bring-It-Back eligibility criteria, you will be required to pay the Bring-It-Back Program Amount. Be sure to sign up for AppleCare+ or TELUS Device Care so if something happens to your phone, it we’ll exchange it for the same device and you can avoid any additional charges.

Returned device must be in good working condition or you will be responsible for the difference between the Bring-It-Back program amount and the lower trade-in value for a device that is not in good working condition Trade-in standards published at the time a device is returned will apply. Yes, you can keep your number when you switch to Telus. Your existing number will not be switched until you have the device/ SIM card in your hands.

What you need to do: 

Keep your number active with your old service provider.

Hotwire Telus 1-yr Limited Warranty 

TELUS offers a 12-month limited warranty on new smartphones  commencing on the date that the Phone is activated to ensure that the Phone shall be free of defects in materials and workmanship, subject to the eligibility requirements, conditions and limitations below. 

 

What limitations apply?

The TELUS 1-year Limited Warranty does not apply in the following circumstances:

  • The phone’s serial number, accessory date code, IMEI number, water indicator, or warranty seal has been removed, erased, defaced, altered, or is illegible.
  • The defect was caused by excessive wear and tear, or physical/ liquid damage
  • The defect was caused by rough handling, exposure to moisture, dampness, extreme thermal or environmental conditions, corrosion, oxidation, unauthorized modifications, unauthorized repairs, use of unauthorized spare parts, accidents, forces of nature, or other actions beyond the reasonable control of TELUS.
  • The defect was caused by battery short circuits, tampering with battery seals, or using the battery in equipment other than its specified purpose.
  • The defect was caused by a defective function of the cellular network or other system.
  • The phone software needs to be upgraded due to changes in cellular network parameters.
  • The defect was caused by using the phone with, or connected to, a faulty accessory.
  • Where screen protector repair/replacement is required, the screen protector is not covered by the TELUS 1-Year limited warranty.

Key Telus Cancellation Fee Details

  • Home Internet (2-Year Term): Usually \(\$15\) for each month (or partial month) remaining in your term.
  • Mobility/ Wireless on term: You must pay the remaining balance of your device financing (Easy Payment) and any device discounts. If you have a Bring-it-Back Plan, and you are keeping the device, you must also pay the Bring-it-Back Discount along with the remaining, Easy Payment and Device Balance amounts. 
  • BYOD Mobility: If you are not on a term contract, you can usually cancel without a fee, though service fees might not be pro-rated.

 

Understanding Your Upfront Costs

At Hotwire Telus EPP, we want to make getting the latest tech as easy as possible. When you see $0 upfront, it means you don't have to pay a down payment on the device. However, there are a few things to keep in mind:

  • HST/ GST/ PST: Government regulations require that sales tax (HST/GST/PST) be paid upfront on the final price of the device.
